Working on the assessment process
The main product of ENSURE Project is the integrated framework for vulnerability and resilience assessment. Here you can find an activity to practice the vulnerability and resilience assessment process as a logical sequence of working steps developed into the specific methodology proposed by the ENSURE Project.
Try to reproduce the correct sequence of actions making reference to the Ilia, Negev and Vulcano case studies (see files ENSURE_Del5.3.1, ENSURE_Del5.3.2, ENSURE_Del5.3.3 in module 3).
CASE STUDY 1
Ilia case study concerns all hazards in the region, trying to highlight the possible consequences of each hazard typology;
CASE STUDY 2
Negev case study concerns a certain hazard – drought – which hardly affects the region with a well-known system of impacts and a short return time;
CASE STUDY 3
Vulcano case study concerns a certain hazard – volcanic eruption – which could very hardly affect the region with a catastrophe but with complete uncertainty about the time and characteristics of the possible eruption and different return times related to different severity levels of the events. Notice also that eruptions produce a series of hazards: to study an eruption means to study a system of different hazards.
